Sth Walker Creek CHPP surpasses 6Mtpa run rate

THE coal handling and preparation plant at Stanmore Resources’ South Walker Creek mine in Queensland recorded the highest quarterly coal production for the year in the December quarter, maintaining an annualised run rate above 6.2 million tonnes.

Run-of-mine coal of 1.8Mt for the December quarter was 82% of the September quarter due to mine sequencing and wet weather.

However, run-of-mine coal of 1.8Mt for the December quarter was 82% of the September quarter due to mine sequencing and wet weather.

"Coal inventories were available to support a consistent saleable production figure quarter-on-quarter and enable above-plan CHPP yields," Stanmore said.

"[A total of] 1.6Mt of coal was sold during the quarter, however, coal railed was behind the prior quarter, partly due to a planned five-day CHPP outage in November and rail network issues experienced over the Christmas period."

There was 330,000t of product coal at site at the end of the quarter, reflective of the impacted rail network.

Production records achieved for the year included RoM tonnes mined of 7.97Mt, saleable production of 6.26Mt, waste movement, blasted bulk cubic metres and achieved yield.
