The event at the Washington County fairgrounds in Abingdon will feature several regulatory speakers including Congressman Morgan Griffith, Senate candidate George Allen and Senator Phil Puckett.

Governor Mitt Romney, Congressman Ron Paul, Senate candidate Tim Kaine and others have been invited to take the podium.

“The attacks on the Virginia and Appalachian coal jobs continue to come from Washington, DC,” FACES said.

Organizers pointed to the US Environmental Protection Agency holding up permits, the Department of Interior threatening new stream buffer zone rules and a current administration that “continues to attack coal and coal jobs”

The group is calling for help with its cause.

The rally is set to kick off at 9.30am local time and will wrap up by 2pm.
