NMBMS planning May health, safety conference

The three-day event has been scheduled for May 6-8 at the Macey Center in Socorro.

It has been designed for individuals from across the industry, including management, labor, regulators, educators and supervisors.

Some of the planned breakout sessions include disaster psychology, safe travel to and from work, workplace physics, electrical safety and legal issues.

Round table discussions on leadership and strategies are also on the organizers’ tentative schedule.

Keynotes also will be offered by Joplin, Missouri school superintendent CJ Huff and SafeStart vice president Don Wilson.

Guest speaker Bruce Watzman from the National Mining Association will join the group for a luncheon on May 7.

The event will have an exhibitor area and will offer a wellness fair and outreach mobile clinic.
