The company said he left his seat effective December 31, but is continuing to serve as an independent consultant.

Over his 32 years with Martin Engineering, Swinderman was president for 11 years and president/CEO for seven years.

He developed several systems that have leading positions in Martin Engineering’s line, and is the holder of more than 140 active patents in 12 countries.

“Todd is a well-recognized expert in bulk material handling, with more than 50 years of industry experience,” chairman Ed Peterson said.

“He has been instrumental in establishing and strengthening our outstanding R&D team…[and] led our entry into the international marketplace. We are deeply indebted to him for his dedication and outstanding contribution.”

Swinderman was the principal author of Martin Engineering’s Foundations series of non-commercial books illustrating methods to improve belt conveyor efficiency through total material control.

He also is the author of more than 30 articles and technical papers on bulk material handling issues and solutions such as conveyor design, safety and fugitive material control techniques.

Martin has not announced any replacement plans.
