The workshops will also address the issues and challenges posed by automation and provide an update on current roadway development related research and development initiatives.

The workshops are open to all those involved in roadway development including operators, trades, team leaders, ERZ controllers/deputies, development coordinators and engineers, superintendents and mine managers, together with researchers, original equipment manufacturers and suppliers.

Participants should be prepared to discuss the issues, challenges and opportunities they experience in roadway development and to recommend ways and means of improving performance.

The keynote address will be on the safety case for automation of roadway development by Robin Burgess-Limerick, from Burgess Limerick & Associates, while other speakers include Professor Chris Cook from the University of Wollongong.

CSIRO Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies’ David Reid and Mark Dunn will be talking about Roadway Development Automation – Research Challenges.

University of Wollongong’s Stephen Van Duin and Mining Attachments’ Matt Ryan will talk about Automated Bolting and Meshing Project – Learnings in Automation.

The presentation will be held on May 24 at Pokolbin, May 25 at Penrith and May 31 at Moranbah.
