DME said a faulty carbon monoxide sensor may no longer respond to the presence of carbon monoxide.

“A failure mode has been identified in this sensor. It may show as an unexpected, catastrophic loss of sensitivity, inhibiting the sensor’s ability to detect and respond to carbon monoxide,” DME said in its safety alert yesterday.

It said mines should use the manufacturer’s procedure to identify the devices covered by the recall.
