APA’s three existing data centres have been replaced with two modern data centres and a highly available active infrastructure platform to support business-critical systems.

The project forms part of an overall IT modernisation and consolidation program aimed at gaining efficiencies following recent mergers and acquisitions.

APA is a major ASX-listed gas transportation business, delivering about half of Australia's annual gas use through its infrastructure located throughout mainland Australia.

Their modernised, standardised platform will increase application availability and flexibility, ensuring continued high standards of service and reliability and supporting future business growth.

CGI completed the IT infrastructure architecture, design and implementation and will now manage the data centres under a three-year services contract.

“We are very pleased with the outcome of our data centre project and the transition to managed services with CGI”, APA manager of infrastructure and support Simon Mackay said.

“The project has delivered more resilient infrastructure and systems, allowing us to focus on delivering new capabilities to the business.”

“We’re delighted to have APA in our portfolio of successful Australian clients and we look forward to continuing our relationship through our managed services engagement,” CGI Australia vice president Scott Ayer said.

“CGI has a strong track record of helping clients in Australia’s public and private sectors become more efficient, allowing them to focus on their strategic goals. The completion of this project illustrates our commitment to helping our clients succeed.”

CGI is the fifth largest independent information technology and business process services firm in the world.
