The event, set for November 4-7 at the Ross Bridge Hotel and Conference Center in Hoover, will include a one-day pre-conference followed by two days of technical sessions.

The September 4 pre-conference includes full-day seminars on contractor safety, industrial hygiene programs and workplace violence.

Some of the main symposium topics include a presentation on drugs in the workplace, “Quecreek Mine Rescue Update” by Pennsylvania Bureau of Mining officials Joe Sbaffoni, and “Chemical Safety Board Accident Reviews” by Mark Griffon of the US Chemical Safety Investigation Board.

A golf outing and charity dinner are also planned for the gathering, as is a keynote speech by US Mine Safety and Health Administration assistant secretary for mine safety and health Joseph Main.

The seventh annual conference brought together more than 500 attendees and 40 exhibitors. Organisers hope for an even greater turnout for the 2013 event.
