Show organiser Reed Exhibitions said total visits across the three days were 10,261, a 1% increase on the 2006 show.

Tuesday visits were up 8.3% on 2006, Wednesday’s (the wettest day) were down 10.6% and Thursday’s were up 11.1%.

“Despite the extreme weather, we are very pleased to see that overall visitor numbers did increase compared with two years ago,” Reed director John Gorton said.

“We consider that quite an achievement in view of the fact that the Wednesday is traditionally the big day for visitors to QME.”

Gorton said that QME would return to Mackay in 2010 on July 27-29, and would again be held at the Mackay Showground.
