ATF, a member of the Ampcontrol Group of Companies, received IEC Ex Certificate of Conformity for electrical apparatus in explosive atmospheres IEC60079-0 and IEC60079-1 for the enclosure.

The flameproof enclosure can be used in any country that accepts International Certifications to IEC60079-0 and IEC60079-1. The certification was issued by Simtars under IEC Ex SIM 08.0003X.

The enclosure is designed for Class I Zone 1 Ex d coal mine applications and can be used with a range of hazardous area machinery, including auxiliary fans, pump stations, and machine electrics.

Ampcontrol said the enclosure could be manufactured in a horizontal or vertical position and fitted with an optional o-ring giving it an IP66 rating.

The enclosure can also be custom manufactured with a number of options including push-buttons, operator windows, threaded and spigot entries, and receptacle and adaptor configurations.

On top of the enclosures installed at Vale’s Carborough Downs development, Ampcontrol has also supplied the mine with five 2MVA IP65 11kV/1kV - 4 outlet substations; four 2MVA Flameproof 11kV/1kV - 8 outlet substations; four Flameproof 1000V - 8 outlet DCBs; four IP65 Dual 11kV section Isolators; three IP65 1000V pump starters (1 x dual and 2 x 30kW); and one 2MVA IP65 11kV/1kV belt services substation.
