Ontrak is responsible for promoting and selling the Phillips shuttlecar and other products into the market with support from Phillips’ international team.
Under the arrangement Phillips manufactures its shuttlecars and other products in its USA or South African factories and ships the completed machine to Australia.
Phillips is finalising the certification of its flameproof electrical package to IECEx standards to ensure its acceptability to the NSW, Queensland and New Zealand markets.
Once the machine has been delivered to the customer, Phillips supports Ontrak by providing training to the customers’ operators and maintenance staff and completing the commissioning of the machines underground.
Following the successful commissioning of the machine Ontrak provides the ongoing field service and spare parts support and Phillips maintains a stock of Consignment Inventory in Australia.
Phillips South Africa and Australia managing director Larry Cantley said he is delighted with the agreement with Ontrak.
“Ontrak Engineering managing director Steve Lewry has created a great product at Ontrak with a first class reputation for the quality of its machines and after-market support; there is a natural fit between the two products and companies in terms of their application underground and the similar cultures of the businesses,” he said.
“We are delighted to have established this agreement with Ontrak and believe we could not have found a better partner in Australia.”
Since meeting only a few months ago, Cantley and Lewry have developed a solid relationship and are now working on the next phase of their plan: the introduction of Ontrak’s products into Phillips overseas markets, particularly South Africa.
Ontrak has also been awarded a contract with LendLease Bouygues JV for three feeder breakers for the NorthConnex Tunnel project.
“I believe this could be a first for an Australian company to break into this area with feeder breakers made locally,” Lewry said.
“We have also won an order with Halley & Mellowes Australia for two reclaim feeders for Indonesia, and this is our second order for Indonesia.”
