The 275 ICCLs are configured to include a PED Paging receiver to operate with the exiting PED Emergency Warning System, and each will also include an RFID tag for tracking.

The RFID tag is based on AeroScout’s leading Wi-Fi tagging technology that has been customised to suit the ICCL and MST’s tracking infrastructure.

Initially ImPact Access Points will be installed at the surface portals, and later expanded into the mine to split the mine into tracking zones.

The ability to track miners as they move around underground will certainly contribute to ensuring Angus Place maintains the high safety levels already achieved by the mine management and workforce, MST said this morning.

Angus Place joins fellow Centennial mines Springvale and Clarence which have already upgraded to the ICCL lightweight lamps.
