The project will be located 150km from Beijing at Xuandong mine and will showcase Australian mine technology.
"China's strong interest in improving mine safety has the potential to become a multi-million dollar industry. This project will increase export opportunities for Queensland businesses and that means jobs," Robertson said.
"Queensland has a wealth of expertise in providing sophisticated, specialised mine safety equipment, technology, services and training, built over more than 100 years of mining in our state.”
Robertson said Queensland’s expertise could help to reduce mine fatalities, provide safer working environments for Chinese miners, and improve efficiency and productivity of operations.
"Our companies are keen to share expertise, exchange ideas and strengthen industry ties with China to promote best practice mining safety practices.”
The Australian government has chipped in $A5 million for the project, while China’s State Administration of Work Safety and the owner of the Xuandong mine will also make contributions.
