The first Rapid Mine Development symposium was held four years ago at the Institute of Mining Engineering in Aachen, Germany, and was attended by 500 international participants.

The next symposium on this topic has been scheduled for June 7-8 2006 in Aachen in cooperation with DBT and Euromines.

The symposium will cover a host of topics related to mine development in coal, ore, potassium and industry minerals.

Topics will cover profitability and productivity increase; operational experiences (blasting, roadheading); planning, organisation, logistics; machine technology and equipment; telemining and automation; and ground control and shotcreting.

The organising committee is now inviting international experts from industry and research institutions to submit presentation abstracts to the symposium secretariat at rosenkranz@bbk1.rwth-aachen.de, before September 30 2005.
