The IMVC is scheduled for November 10-13, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza New Delhi and will serve as a forum for global mine operators as well as educators, government representatives and other industry individuals to review issues and evaluate new technology in the mine ventilation arena.

“[The] ultimate goal of the [conference] is to bring together the world’s leading mining and safety researchers in order to develop synergies and solutions that can minimise risks to personnel in the global mining industry for many years to come,” said the congress coordinators.

It is the first time that Asia will host the event that is typically scheduled every four years; the last gathering in 2005 was held in Australia and the seventh congress in 2001 was hosted in Poland.

The deadline for 300-word abstracts (in English only) is October 31. Some of the topics being sought for technical presentations and papers include coal bed and coal mine methane, diesel issues for both surface and underground mines, network modelling, system analysis and design, heat/humidity and climate control, mine explosions and mine fans/ventilation pressure.

Those authors looking to present case studies or discuss health issues relating to mining ventilation are also invited to submit abstracts.
