The company has brought together staff from previous Hunter region offices at New Lambton and Charlestown into the Newcastle’s Honeysuckle Drive, Newcastle facility that is housing about 50 technical staff.

The move follows Golder’s previous integrations of Marston International, SEE Sustainability and most recently Strata Engineering.

Many of the technical specialists at the office had more than 20 years experience in their fields, which included strata control, mine modelling, due diligence, environmental impact assessment, planning approvals and groundwater modelling, Golder managing director Adam Kilsby said.

“Golder will be able to respond to the needs of local organisations in a truly integrated way,” he said.

“Locating all our technical specialists together can only serve to improve the support we give and enhance the experience our clients have.”

According to the NSW Minerals Council, the Hunter is the biggest coal producing region in the state, with forecast billion-dollar investments by coal producers, port and rail operators expected to further strengthen the region’s mining industry.

Kilsby said Golder’s expansion of its presence in the Hunter reflected its anticipation of solid long-term demand for coal and the region’s other resources.
