The property, located just three miles from EmberClear’s Tracy Slope mine, was purchased for an undisclosed amount from the estate of longtime hard coal miner Joseph Walacavage.
"We knowingly embarked on a long journey years ago to consolidate premium surface and mineral rights meeting our own requirements and that of the merchant market," EmberClear chief executive Albert Lin said.
"Many variables must resolve favorably to close such transactions and it's very satisfying to be able to add this latest transaction."
It did not disclose any other details about its plans for the acreage, nor any resource estimations.
EmberClear does intend to increase its ongoing drilling program to assess all of its assets, which now total more than 700 acres.
A drilling program at the Tracy Slope mine recently commenced and will be the basis of an updated independent National Instrument 43-101 report.
EmberClear’s efforts include the development of advanced carbon-based gasification, ultra-super critical, supercritical, circulating fluidized bed, and post-combustion carbon dioxide capture.
