Utah to host CMM conference

The agency has scheduled the popular international gathering for October 18-20 at the Marriott Park City Hotel in Park City, with discussions planned on policy/legal issues, CMM project costs and incentives, global opportunities for ventilation air methane mitigation and CMM project opportunities worldwide.

While the schedule is still being finalized, some of the planned technical presentations include:

  • How The “Tailoring Rule” Affects Coal Mine Methane Emission Offset Opportunities at US Coal Mines – Collon Kennedy, Ruby Canyon Engineering;
  • Generating Power from Coal Mine Methane in the Western US - Jeff Leibert, Verdeo Group;
  • Outlook for CMM in Mexico and Colombia – Jonathan Kelafant, Advanced Resources International;
  • China: Status of CMM Projects and Outlook for a Post-CDM Era – Raymond Pilcher, Raven Ridge Resources; and
  • Improved Performance of Gas Gensets for Coal Mine Methane Applications – Armin Roeseler, MWM GmbH.

A keynote address is planned and organizers have invited energy analyst and former Community Office for Resource Efficiency director Randy Udall to open the event.

Guests can also take part in a special offsite visit to Solvay Chemicals’ trona mine in Green River, Wyoming on the final day of the conference.
