Consol said Mine 84, Shoemaker, McElroy and Blacksville #2 mines were the main contributors, with improvements also coming from Central Appalichia’s Buchanan mine.

Consol produced a total of 4.2 million tons for July 2003, breaking down into 3.1 million tons for Northern Appalachia, 1.1 million tons for Central Appalachia and 0.06 million tons for the Midwest/West.

CONSOL Energy produced a total of 4.8 million tons in June 2003, down from 5.3 million tons in May.

Consol said production figures in July were usually lower than in other months of the year because many mines took a scheduled two-week vacation period during the month, idling production.
