Last call for 2006 training awards nominees

QUEENSLAND-based Mining Industry Skills Centre has issued the last nominations call for the 2006 Training Awards, which will recognise excellence in training and innovation within the mining industry.

Last call for 2006 training awards nominees

The awards will be presented at an industry dinner on Friday, September 8 at the Carlton Crest Hotel Brisbane, providing an opportunity for nominees to showcase their development initiatives to a wide audience of representatives from industry, government and media.

Nominations must be submitted by Friday 11 August 2006.

Categories for the 2006 Mining Industry Skills Centre Training Awards are:

  • Trainee of the Year

*Coal Trainee of the Year;

*Drilling Trainee of the Year;

*Extractive Trainee of the Year;

*Indigenous Trainee of the Year; and

*Metalliferous Trainee of the Year.

  • Innovation/Best Practice Company of the Year

*Innovation/Best Practice Coal Company of the Year;

*Innovation/Best Practice Drilling Company of the Year;

*Innovation/Best Practice Extractive Company of the Year; and

*Innovation/Best Practice Metalliferous Company of the Year;

  • Training Provider of the Year
  • Excellence in Training

Each of the winners in the Trainee categories will receive a trophy and a cash reward of $1000.

Each of the Innovation/Best Practice Company winners will receive a trophy and the winners of the Excellence in Training Award will receive a Perpetual Trophy.

Two finalists from each category will be provided airfare, accommodation and attendance at the awards dinner.
