DBT wins new orders in China

DBT has won a major contract for roof supports from a new customer in China, as well as orders for armoured face conveyors, Versatrac VT650 shield movers and a plow system rebuild.

DBT will supply 188 roof supports with centre spacing of 1.75m and extended height of 5m to Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co. The equipment is for use in Suancigou Coal Mine, 27km east of the township of Shagedu, Erdos City, Inner Mongolia.

The roof supports are equipped with DBT’s PMC-R automated control for longwall roof support applications and with a system to transfer data to the surface. The design capacity of Suancigou Coal Mine is 12 million tonnes per annum.

Yitai Coal’s activities include mining, distribution and sale of coal and coal-processed products.

The contract was signed on August 10, 2006 in Erdos City, with delivery scheduled for March 2007. Fulfilment will bring the total number of roof supports supplied to China to more than 3000.

Shenhua has ordered two AFCs from DBT in April and July. The AFCs will be used in 6.3m longwalls – the thickest in the world – with a face length of 305m. Each contract includes one AFC with PF6 line pan, one PF6 beam stage loader and one crusher. The scheduled deliveries will be in March and April 2007.

DBT’s Versatrac shield movers continue to consolidate their market position in China. On June 9, DBT signed a contract with Shenhua to supply four VT650 shield movers. The VT650 has a capacity of 45t, substantially greater than the VT636, of which Shenhua has previously purchased 10 units.

DBT said battery-powered vehicles have the advantages of no pollution, no noise and no heat in the working area. Together with reliability, they are the major reasons why Shenhua has decided to use Versatrac shield movers at the longwall face.

In July 2006, DBT Langfang signed a rebuild contract with Jincheng for a plow system following two and a half years of operation. The order is the biggest rebuild order for DBT Langfang to date. The rebuild will extend the life of the plow system by two years.
