German firefighting technology reaches Australia

The water mist firefighting systems, distributed by Fire Fighting Technologies International, use water as an extinguishing agent. The water is converted into a fine mist at a high pressure of 120–200 bars.

The company said this method was especially effective on conveyor belts where fires develop rapidly due to the high fire load on the belt and ventilation conditions in conveyor tunnels.

Using minimal water, the Fogtec technology is designed to rapidly fight the fire whilst withstanding ventilation in the tunnel environment.

Fogtec said small pipe sizes allow for easy installation or for retrofitting existing belts.
