Bluefield preview: Jennmar and Phoenix First Response

JENNMAR will show off a number of new products at the Bluefield Coal Show this month, while Phoenix First Response will make its show debut with the Thermo-Gel fire suppression product.

Staff Reporter

Roof support specialist Jennmar will have several new products on display at the Bluefield Coal Show: Twin-Lok, a new product by Jennmar affiliate J-Lok, Expanbol Python, and the new PH Roof/Rib Channel.

Twin-Lok, a two-speed resin that combines fast-setting point anchor resin with slower-setting resin for full encapsulation, allows the roof bolter to install resin cartridge and bolt from normal operating positions for safer installation. Only one full-length Twin-Lok cartridge per bolt is necessary, and it was designed for use with fully-grouted torque/tension bolts.

Jennmar has also recently launched the Expanbol Python. Expanbol rock bolts are designed to satisfy the most demanding rock support challenges in both the mining and construction industries. A high-load capacity combined with excellent elongation properties provide cost efficiency as well as a safer working environment.

The Expanbol range consists of three products: Expanbol Standard, used for lighter applications with a load capacity of 12 metric tons; Expanbol Midi featuring a load capacity of 16 tons; and the robust Expanbol Super with a capacity of 24 metric tons.

Finally, Jennmar will be displaying the new PH Roof/Rib Channel. Not only can it control roof/rib sloughage and aid with “cutter roof”, the easy-to-install product can enhance the performance of wire mesh and can provide active support to the roof and rib.

It also prevents accidents caused by rib rolls and sloughage, making for a safer working environment overall.

Phoenix First Response

THE staff of Phoenix First Response are excited to be first-time vendors at the 2009 Bluefield show, where they will be putting the spotlight on their Thermo-Gel fire suppression product.

The company, which just recently introduced Thermo-Gel, will be demonstrating the product as an advanced solution to not only fight fires of various intensities, but also effectively prevent and contain fires. Additionally, PFR has touted its “exponentially greater” effectiveness over foam-based products.

Thermo-Gel is adaptable, as it can be utilized with existing or new automated fire suppression systems such as those on belt drives, carried in specialized backpacks for firefighters, or even truck-mounted for portability.

Those wanting to see Thermo-Gel in action will be in for a treat, as the PFR team will be scheduling special demonstrations at the minesites of mine rescue teams, fire brigades and operations personnel wanting to witness the technology.

Staff will be on hand at the event to discuss the company’s 24/7 full-service emergency response service, seals and stoppings availability, downhole nitrogen inerting, jet engine firefighting and more. Staff members from the company’s mining-specific gas analysis laboratory and gas chromatograph sales and service center will also be available.

“Bluefield is the single largest gathering of the coal industry in the region,” PFR said. “We want to support an event that helps to promote and advance the industry locally, and PFR looks forward to the opportunity to meet the area’s coal miners and introduce them to our products and services.”
