More than 80 Shanxi province officials allegedly responsible for several major mining explosions will be subject to punishment. Eighteen officials will be incriminated on criminal charges while 64 others will endure administrative discipline, China Daily reported.

The officials have been charged in relation to four major explosions, which killed 178 miners and injured 13.

China Daily said there have been seven major coal mining disaster in the province since October, with three occurring last month over a 10 day period, killing almost 100 miners.
