Western Australia iron ore explorer Red Hawk Mining has entered into an agreement with MGM Bulk to haul iron ore from the Blacksmith iron ore project in the Pilbara, to the Utah Point bulk handling facility in Port Hedland.

MGM Bulk will provide a fleet of 150 tonne ultra-quad trucks and drivers plus associated loading and other equipment and infrastructure.

The company fleet includes 170 prime movers.

Blacksmith is about 70km from Tom Price.

Under the scope of the haul agreement Red Hawk and MGM Bulk will collaborate on the project's pre-feasibility and definitive feasibility study phases to develop and optimise a transport and logistics strategy.

MGM Bulk chief executive officer Michael Giacci said the company was proud to be forging a long-term partnership with Red Hawk Mining on a mine-to-port haulage solution for Blacksmith.

Red Hawk managing director Steven Michael said MGM Bulk's operations in the Pilbara, centred around delivering iron ore into Utah Point, were second to none.

"Their fleet size, quality, operational performance and safety record are critical factors in ensuring the success of the Blacksmith project and our PFS team is working closely with MGM Bulk's commercial and operations team to deliver operating and capital cost estimates with a high degree of certainty," he said.

"We are excited to work with the team to establish a haulage strategy optimised for the Blacksmith project."
