Under the EMC the organisations will work together to investigate renewable energy and demand management-related activities on a mine site.

The aim is to find ways to optimise electrical and fuel demand and the integration of renewable energy systems.

The first project as part of the program is the trial installation of a 250 kilowatts hybrid energy solution facility at OZ Minerals' Carrapateena project.

That facility, to be set up in the first half of 2020, will include solar, wind and battery technologies connected to existing diesel generators. It will also have a Smart Grid controller for data access and tracking.
