Miners fined for 2020 fatality at Whirling Dervish

TWO mining companies and a mine supervisor were fined a total of $1.57 million in the Perth Magistrates Court after the death of Michael Johnson, who was killed in July 2020 when he drove over the edge of a 25m void in a bogger at the Whirling Dervish gold mine.
