Govt allocates $4M to methane emission abatement research

THE Australian government is investing more than $4 million in research grants to the CSIRO and the University of Newcastle for projects that will trial technologies to tackle methane emissions from coal mines.

Resources minister Madeleine King said $2.05 million has been allocated to the CSIRO and $2.3 million for the University of Newcastle.
