The company said its new facility would be used to support an existing regional client base, develop new business and offer a bigger range of competitor spare parts and repairs.

An experienced team of people would service Konecranes equipment and other common makes and models used in the area, said Queensland manager Stephen Grant.

"When our clients need a crane, they need it in perfect condition right away," he said. "The last thing any company needs is costly interruptions to production or maintenance because of breakdowns in vital lifting equipment."

Konecranes has contracts with local mines including Saraji, North Goonyella, Peak Downs, Blair Athol, Dalrymple Coal Terminal and the new Moorvale coal plant.

The company has more than 200,000 cranes under service contract worldwide and annual sales of more than $1 billion. ConstructionEquipmentNews.net
