KENWOOD NEXEDGE digital radio systems

Two-way radio systems that achieve greater efficiencies and enable robust safety protocols

JVCKENWOOD Australia Pty Ltd
KENWOOD NEXEDGE digital radio systems

Mining is an exacting industry combining the latest technology, machinery and human skills to maximise efficiency, productivity and safety.

The process of mining, tunnelling and quarrying presents a harsh operating environment calling for equipment that can withstand extreme temperature, dust, noise, moisture and toxic exposure.

Two-way radio systems help operators achieve greater efficiencies and enable robust safety protocols through instant, fail-safe communications in voice and data - monitoring and managing the information and resources vital in the event of an accident or major incident.

KENWOOD NEXEDGE digital radio systems provide a reliable, convenient and effective means of communication in mining applications as it allows cost effective instant and simultaneous communication with individuals and groups of people.

All NEXEDGE® NXDN and NEXEDGE DMR models feature Emergency Key and Emergency Call features as standard, while more advanced models additionally offer built-in or optional GPS modules, Lone Worker and Emergency Advanced Motion Detection Function, which make them ideal for incorporating within a robust health and safety and lone worker policy.

In addition to its ITU Recognised NEXEDGE NXDN fully scalable digital systems, KENWOOD can offer ETSI compliant DMR Tier 2, Tier 3 Trunked and Simulcast solutions. For more localised operations requiring a simple turnkey communication solution KENWOOD offers its ProTalk digital license-free CB.

Rugged, Durable and Dependable

NEXEDGE® Digital Two-way Radios with Lone Worker features are available in both hand-portable radios and mobile in-vehicle units which all conform to MIL-STD-810 C/D/E/F/G for ruggedness and durability and are IP67 Water & Dust Intrusion rated, making them ideal for operation in harsh, outdoor environments.

Proven in mining applications

KENWOOD two-way radio systems are employed extensively in mining operations around the world including SSGPO Mining, Kazahkstan, Anglo American Platinum, South Africa, African Minerals Ltd, Sierra Leone and Potash Corp, USA. In Australia Goldfields, Northern Star, BHP, MMG, Oz Minerals, K92, Westgate Tunnel are just a few of the companies and sites using KENWOOD.

To discover more about the millions of KENWOOD devices in use by countless customers in hundreds of applications around the world, including the innovative multi-protocol NX-5000 Series (NXDN, DMR, P25 and FM Analogue) and NX-3000 Series (NXDN, DMR and FM Analogue) hand portable radio and mobiles.

NX-3000 Series

NX-3000 Series multiprotocol digital radios are capable of operating in NXDN or DMR Tier 2 and 3, as well as FM analog. The radio has built-in GPS and Bluetooth and features KENWOOD audio, enhanced with active noise reduction (ANR) using built-in DSP and advanced AES, DES and DMR ARC4 optional encryption.

The product meets the IP67 standard for dust intrusion and immersion and is capable of UHF operation from 400-520 MHz or VHF 136-174Mhz. Both the portable and NX-3720/3820 have a bright multiline, full dot-matrix LCD display.

A 7-colour light bar indicator on the top of the portable can be programmed by the user to light or flash, making it easy to silently identify calls by channels or zones and facilitating easy visual alerting, even in low light or high noise situations. The radios also feature a built-in motion sensor (man down, stationary and motion detection) and users have the option of expanding up to 1000 channels.

NX-5000 Series

The NX-5000 Series offers unsurpassed interoperability for a wide variety of users as it supports three digital CAIs — NXDN, DMR and P25 (Phase 1 & 2) — plus FM analog in a single radio. Best of all, a desired CAI can be selected at will, giving you the freedom to migrate at your own pace — whether you are intent on going fully digital, undecided about which digital system to pick, or just wanting to maintain both digital and analog for a while. An NX-5000 radio can simultaneously support two digital protocols plus analog, offering the following combinations: FM/DMR/ NXDN, FM/NXDN/P25, and FM/DMR/P25.

A 1.74-inch (240 x 180 pixel) 65,536-color Transflective LCD, capable of displaying a multi-line text and coloured icons, can be viewed clearly in direct sunlight or in the dark, even while wearing polarized sunglasses.

In addition to sophisticated sound analysis and optimization technologies, these radios feature Active Noise Cancelling based on leading-edge digital technology to offer clear communications even in very noisy environments.

Hands-free operation is vital for many NX-5000 users. The radios' built-in Bluetooth® module is compatible with Headset and Serial Port Profiles (ver. 4.0) and keeps your hands free.
